Drug Assessment

Research is conducted by YCAB for two main purposes:

  • Researching current drug trends in Indonesia. One example of a study that was conducted to understand the drug situation in the country is the Protective Factors Survey. This study sought to explore the relationship between positive influences in a child’s life and how these influences ‘protect’ the youth. With this information YCAB has designed its YADA Workshop in part to promote these protective factors and also reduce the risk factors identified in previous surveys.

  • Evaluating the effectives of YCAB’s programs and campaigns so that modifications can be made. Usually a program from YCAB is designed based upon the latest available research. For example, the YADA Workshop program was designed according to available research and with input from international best practises, but was modified slightly after the initial pilot scheme. Our evaluation report identified that there was too much information content, and as a result students became over-stimulated and started to tune out. In response we tweaked the program to avoid this over-saturation and keep the students’ attention focused.
