YADA Workshop

Youth Again Drug Abuse (YADA) Workshop is a series of life skills educational modules which include elements of self-esteem and multiple intelligence learning (Howard Gardner, 1985). Participants progress through each module and after successful graduation they are invited to become members of the YADA Club.

Each participant starts with the full version of the first module, Medical Perspective, while those who are interested or want to go further with their drug prevention education can continue to complete the following 3 modules:

  • Communication – this offers skills that enable participants to effectively express themselves.
  • Decision making – by empowering participants, we give them the tools to make the right choices in their lives.
  • AKU (Ambition, Reality, Effort) – by encouraging self-awareness we help participants to better understand their own goals.

Once they have completed the modules participants can go on to join in with YADA Club activities. In terms of effectiveness, a recent internal evaluation concluded that the modules do increase knowledge about drugs, their abuse and how to protect against them.
