Skills for Independence

As a direct result of running our "Drug Free Life" programs we discovered that many drug users were youths who had missed out on the opportunity to secure an education, or who lacked the necessary skills to find employment.

To help address this situation YCAB set-up a vocational training centre called Rumah Belajar YCAB Foundation. In its first full year of operation in 2005 the centre provided a variety of courses for underprivileged people in the surrounding areas, focusing its activities on children whose families couldn't afford the state education fees.

Currently there are 3 Rumah Belajar which are located at Duri Kepa, Plumpang-North Jakarta and Cikarang.

With decent qualifications many students have found meaningful employment that they would not otherwise be able to get.
